Today Donald Trump announced that America will pull back from the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). It appears Trump is deploying a new course when it comes to trade agreements.

The Trump government believes TPP to be harmful to the American economy. This is in line with earlier statements made by Trump where he refers to “America first”. This “America first” approach is committed to combating the outsourcing of production abroad .

It appears Trump is planning to reassess multiple trade agreements and to either renegotiate or to cancel these trade agreements. What the influence will be on the European – American trade agreement TTIP has to be seen in the next few weeks or months.
