Nine months after the Brexit vote, Britain formally notified the EU of its intention to leave the EU. The negotiations dealing with this Brexit need to finish within two years from today.
An aide in one of the government departments told Reuters that the EU is in no mood to offer generous terms that could encourage other members to bolt for the door. This could mean there is a long road ahead before the Brexit can be finalized.
Chancellor Hammond emphasized: “We remain full members of the European Union for the next two years, subject to all the rules and obligations of membership”.
